Advanced Soft Tissue Therapy – 6/8 Hours

Are you looking to build on the foundational skills you learned in school?  Do you want to treat a wider variety of clients?  This one day CE course will combine a dynamic classroom experience with extensive hands-on sessions to take your treatments to the next level and give your clients an unforgettable experience.  Therapists will learn a clinical treatment approach, technique theories, and the use of clinical reasoning in treatment decisions so you know why you are doing what you are doing.  Participants will be taught several advanced massage strokes while discussing the mechanics of stroke posture, client positioning, and the use of tools to increase the effectiveness of the techniques.  Advanced trigger point therapy utilizing movement with treatments will be taught and applied during the hands-on sessions.  The body will be broken down into regions with important surface anatomy and various muscles being identified.  Specific trigger point releases and advanced stroke techniques will be applied to each region that can be utilized in treating a variety of conditions.  The hands-on practice sessions will be structured so that the therapists can immediately begin incorporating these techniques into their practices.

Conditions of the Head and Neck – 6/8 Hours

This course explores the use of clinical massage therapy as a safe and effective treatment technique for the cervical spine.  This is a one day 6 or 8 hour CE course that combines a dynamic classroom experience with extensive hands-on sessions. The course will begin by defining what it means to treat clinically using massage therapy including taking a global approach to treatment and the use of clinical reasoning.  Participants will be taken through a case study example and taught, step by step, how to develop a treatment plan through a combination of discussion and hands on techniques such as postural assessment, range of motion assessment, manual muscle and functional testing.   Various cervical conditions such as whiplash, cervical disc injuries, and thoracic outlet syndrome will be discussed in depth along with orthopedic assessment techniques and hands on treatment strategies that will increase your confidence in addressing these conditions and will bring immediate results to your practice.

Conditions of the Low Back and Sacrum – 6/8 Hours

This course explores the use of clinical massage therapy as a safe and effective treatment technique for the low back and sacrum.  This is a one day 6 or 8 hour CE course that combines a dynamic classroom experience with extensive hands-on sessions. The course will begin by defining what it means to treat clinically using massage therapy including taking a global approach to treatment and the use of clinical reasoning.  Participants will be taken through a case study example and taught, step by step, how to develop a treatment plan through a combination of discussion and hands on techniques such as postural assessment, range of motion assessment, manual muscle and functional testing.   Various low back conditions such as spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis, and sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction will be discussed in depth along with orthopedic assessment techniques and hands on treatment strategies that will increase your confidence in addressing these conditions and will bring immediate results to your practice.

Conditions of the Shoulder Complex– 6/8 Hours

This course explores the use of clinical massage therapy as a safe and effective treatment technique for the shoulder complex.  This is a one day 6 or 8 hour CE course that combines a dynamic classroom experience with extensive hands-on sessions. The course will begin by defining what it means to treat clinically using massage therapy including taking a global approach to treatment and the use of clinical reasoning.  Participants will be taken through a case study example and taught, step by step, how to develop a treatment plan through a combination of discussion and hands on techniques such as postural assessment, range of motion assessment, manual muscle and functional testing.   Various shoulder conditions such as rotator cuff dysfunction, biceps tendonopathy, and adhesive capsulitis will be discussed in depth along with orthopedic assessment techniques and hands on treatment strategies that will increase your confidence in addressing these conditions and will bring immediate results to your practice.

Conditions of the Hip and Knee– 6/8 Hours

This course explores the use of clinical massage therapy as a safe and effective treatment technique for the hip and knee.  This is a one day 6 or 8 hour CE course that combines a dynamic classroom experience with extensive hands-on sessions. The course will begin by defining what it means to treat clinically using massage therapy including taking a global approach to treatment and the use of clinical reasoning.  Participants will be taken through a case study example and taught, step by step, how to develop a treatment plan through a combination of discussion and hands on techniques such as postural assessment, range of motion assessment, manual muscle and functional testing.   Various hip and knee conditions such as piriformis syndrome, iliotibial Band Friction Syndrome, and patellofemoral dysfunction will be discussed in depth along with orthopedic assessment techniques and hands on treatment strategies that will increase your confidence in addressing these conditions and will bring immediate results to your practice.

Advanced Orthopedic Soft Tissue Therapy – 16 Hours

This comprehensive course explores the use of orthopedic soft tissue therapy as a safe and effective treatment technique for use in a variety of settings.  The course will begin by discussing the importance of soft tissue therapy, a structured treatment framework, and integrating it into a treatment plan.  Theory and techniques for fascial therapy, trigger points, advanced soft tissue techniques, and the flexibility approach of Active Isolated Stretching will be discussed and practiced.  On the following day, the body will be broken down into regions and the techniques learned earlier will be applied in a systematic way.

At the completion of the course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Recognize the need for integrating soft tissue treatment techniques preparatory to engagement with clients with musculoskeletal conditions.
  2. Apply theory behind connective tissue, trigger point therapy, and AIS to selected areas of the body.
  3. Demonstrate competence in performing the advanced therapeutic massage strokes to various regions of the body.

Clinical Soft Tissue Techniques – 16 Hours

This comprehensive course explores the use of clinical soft tissue techniques for the treatment of some common orthopedic conditions.  The course will begin by demonstrating and practicing techniques for fascial therapy, trigger points, advanced soft tissue techniques, and Active Isolated Stretching.  These techniques will then be applied to several orthopedic conditions in the upper body (thoracic outlet syndrome, rotator cuff dysfunction, and adhesive capsulitis), as well as the lower body (lumbar spine/sacroiliac joint pain, piriformis syndrome, and iliotibial band syndrome).  The treatment of these conditions will be presented in a clear, systematic way to ensure the therapist will be able to immediately incorporate these techniques into their practice to benefit their clients.
